Advising for Art Studio BFA Majors
Art Studio BFA majors will be given priority registration for Spring 2026 and are strongly encouraged to register on Monday, November 17. Review your ARR before registration begins. If you have questions about what to take, please meet with your faculty advisor, Professor Nathan Haenlein ([email protected]), early. Additional course options will become available for Spring 2026 through CSU Fully Online. The Spring 2026 course schedule for CSU Fully Online will be posted by Monday, November 17 on the CSU Fully Online website. Consult with Professor Nathan Haenlein before registering for CSU Fully Online courses you plan to count toward your Art Studio BFA major.
- ARTH 210 or ARTH 211: Take it when offered at SSU during the ARTS BFA AY25/26 teach-out
- Upper Division Art History: Take ARTH 422, and/or ARTH 474, and/or ARTH 480.2 (Select Topics in Art History: TBD) when offered at SSU during the ARTS BFA AY25/26 teach-out
- ARTH 466: Take ARTH 480.2 (Select Topics in Art History: Architecture in the 20th Century) during SP26
- ARTS 465: Take it when offered at SSU during the ARTS BFA AY25/26 teach-out
- ARTS 466: This requirement is being waived; please speak with your BFA advisor, Nathan Haenlein ([email protected]).
- ARTS 491: Take it when offered at SSU during the ARTS BFA AY25/26 teach-out.

| Contemporary Art History | ARTH 376 Conte Art (1970-Present) A writing intensive course that examines the major visual components of postmodern culture. This course will explore a wide range of issues related to the multicultural identity of contemporary culture. Developments in the late 20th and early 21st centuries such as film, digital media, and critical theory as well as traditional visual forms of expression such as painting and sculptures will be discussed. GenEd: UDGE-C. ARTH 441W Contemporary Art An investigation of artists and issues in the global contemporary art world. ARTH 481 Modern History of Interiors Survey of the language of form and space and stylistic vocabularies related to interiors, furnishings, and architecture for 19th and 20th century European and American art from the Colonial period. Styles such as Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Bauhaus, Memphis, and Postmodern addressed, and architects and designers such as William Morris, Frank Lloyd Wright, Eileen Gray, and LeCorbusier included.
