SSU's AANHPI Student Achievement Program awarded $1.125 million in funding from the CSU Chancellor's Office

SSU's Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Student Achievement Program (ASAP) has been awarded $1.125 million in funding from 2025-2030 from the Chancellor's Office and the California State University AANHPI Student Achievement Program (CSU ASAP) to support the academic success of low-income, first-generation, underserved AANHPI students and other underrepresented students. Led by Co-PIs Katherine H. Lee, Lauren Morimoto, and Charlene Tung,  SSU ASAP enhances AANHPI students' educational experiences through Asian American Studies classes, co-curricular programming, student support services, and community-building events while also developing students' leadership skills. ASAP offers AANHPI students the following resources:

  • Asian American Studies classes
  • ASAP Lecture Series (featuring AANHPI community activists, artists, and leaders)
  • Mentoring program
  • Advising and career support
  • Conferences
  • Field trips
  • Study hall sessions

With this multi-year funding, SSU ASAP will continue to expand its current programming and will add new services to support AANHPI student success. SSU ASAP is part of CSU ASAP, which was authorized by the California Education Code Section 89297.1 in 2022.
