Project Proposal Deadline for 2025: TBA
This program is designed to provide financial support for undergraduate involvement in social sciences research. It is designed especially for students in the early stages of their college careers. Through their work with faculty, students will deepen their knowledge and skills while they experience what it means to be part of an intellectual community engaged in social science research.
How it works
- The SSURI committee posts faculty mentor's name, field, a brief project description (200 words), and student qualifications (150 words) on the SSURI website.
- Interested 2nd and 3rd-year students apply online with a short explanation of their interest and qualifications.
- The SSURI committee matches teams of two students (if possible) with each faculty mentor.
- Selected students meet with faculty to sign a learning contract outlining expectations for their work. Download the SSURI Learning Contract template.
- After their commitment is complete, faculty and students complete an assessment of their experience.
- Students can earn up to $900.00 for 50 hours of work. Faculty receive a $1000.00 stipend for each student whom they supervise.
Selected faculty will be expected to participate in program assessment.
