Sonoma State University's ‘Small But Mighty’ Department Spotlights Intersectional Feminism, Gender

The Press-Democrat profiles SSU's Women and Gender Studies Department and what makes it powerful and distinct.

The department, which became official in 2001, aims to educate students about gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, immigration, class and ability. According to Department Chair Dr. Don Romesburg, students in Women’s and Gender Studies also study how gender structures everything, including a person’s innermost sense of self, family, community and transnational relations --Matt Villano, Press Democrat
