WGS Queer Studies Lecture Series : "Nopamine: Gaming, Agony, and Trans Survival"

Carson 68
11:00 am
– 12:15 pm
Guest Speaker: Cáel Keegan
Keegan argues that for trans subjects, time spent gaming can be used to practice within and symbolically survive the same rule-based systems that will be applied unfairly to us in the "real world." Keegan's talk explores trans-fascination with "difficult" video games as a reaction to the agony of cissexist gender and how gaming can enhance trans survival. Keegan is an Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Concordia University.
